Reporting and Mail Merge have become commonly used terms for automated document generation such as business reports, invoices or shipping papers. This article shows problems and show-stoppers of MS Word automation.

TX Text Control is used in Windows Services to create or convert documents in batch processes or to monitor hot folders to start merging processes when new reports are available.

TX Text Control is not only able to load and modify MS Word documents such as DOC, RTF and DOCX files. TX Text Control is also able to import "born digital" PDF documents, so that you can view, edit or convert these files.

Images can be merged in the same way like merge fields in a reporting template. Placeholders are added at design-time and merged with data from files, databases or memory.

We just finished a new set of sample templates and demo applications for upcoming conferences to show the power of Text Control's Flow Type Layout Reporting. The Yahoo! Finance API is a service that Yahoo! provides to download financial data in various formats such as CSV, YQL (an expressive SQL-like language) or RSS. It is a perfect tool to get real-time data for demo reports.
